Gold Price in Bangladesh Hits New All-Time High Again

Dhaka, Bangladesh – April 22, 2025: The relentless surge in the gold price in Bangladesh continues unabated, shattering records for the second consecutive day. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced another significant price hike late Tuesday night, pushing the cost of the precious metal to a new all-time high in the local market.

The latest increase, set to take effect from Wednesday, April 23rd, sees the price of top-quality 22-carat gold jump by a substantial BDT 5,342 per bhori (11.664 grams). This brings the new price for one bhori of 22-carat gold to a staggering BDT 177,888 – the highest gold price in Bangladesh ever recorded.

This dramatic rise comes just 24 hours after a previous major hike. On Monday night, BAJUS had increased prices effective Tuesday, April 22nd, raising the 22-carat price by BDT 4,713 to BDT 172,546 per bhori. That price held the record for less than a day. Combined, the increases announced on Monday and Tuesday mean the price of 22-carat gold has risen by over BDT 10,000 per bhori in just two days.

BAJUS attributed the persistent increases to the rising cost of pure gold (Tejabi gold) in the local market, necessitating the price adjustments. According to BAJUS, the gold price in Bangladesh has been adjusted eight times in April alone, with six increases and two decreases.

The decision for the latest hike was announced following a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
