Dhaka, Bangladesh – The Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has published the list of exam centers for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations of 2025. The much-awaited list was released on Monday, March 17, 2025, providing crucial information for students preparing for their upcoming HSC exams.
However, in a recent Notice, the Dhaka Board has announced the cancellation of 13 exam centers for the 2025 HSC and equivalent examinations. This announcement was made through a notification signed by Professor S M Kamal Uddin, the Controller of Examinations of the Dhaka Board, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
The cancelled exam centers are: Jhitka Khaja Rahmot Ali College, H M Institution, Kazi Sirajul Islam Mohila College, Syed Abul Hossain College, Bir Muktijoddha Shahjahan Khan College, D K Ideal Syed Atahar Ali Academy & College, Kadambari Union Mahabidyalaya, Elias Ahmad Chowdhury College, Majid Jarina Foundation School & College, Haji Shariat Ullah Degree College, Lalmia City College, Rahim Sattar Ideal College, and Bikrampur Adarsha College.
According to Professor S M Kamal Uddin Haydar, the Controller of Examinations of the Dhaka Board, these centers were cancelled due to a low number of examinees, making it difficult to cover the expenses of running the centers. He also stated that by consolidating students from these cancelled centers into other centers, the board aims to ensure better remuneration for the invigilating teachers. Students who were originally assigned to these cancelled centers will be accommodated in alternative centers. The board will likely release updated information regarding the new center assignments for these students.
The initially released list contains important details for each exam center, including the center code number and the names of the colleges under each center, along with their college code numbers. The names of the officers in charge and the supervising officers for each center have also been provided. This detailed information is intended to assist students and college authorities in understanding the logistical aspects of the examinations.
The official announcement of the initial list was made through a notification published on the board’s website. Colleges were listed according to their designated exam centers, and the complete list is accessible on the websites of the respective education boards for students and concerned individuals.
As per the initial notification, the officer in charge of each center will be responsible for collecting the center fees from the principals of the affiliated colleges. They will also collect confidential documents and blank answer sheets from the Dhaka Education Board through the District Commissioner and oversee the smooth conduct of the examinations.
The process for submitting answer scripts, as outlined in the initial notification, requires the first part of the OMR sheets to be sent to the Dhaka Education Board Computer Center by postal mail before 7 PM after each day’s exams. The answer scripts should be sent to the Controller of Examinations following the examination guidelines.
For venue centers, the initial process involved receiving necessary funds and documents from their main center and submitting all related papers to the officer in charge of the main center after the exams.
The District Commissioner will serve as the supervising officer for exam centers in district towns, while the Upazila Nirbahi Officer will hold this responsibility in upazilas. Typically, the principal or acting principal of the college selected as an HSC exam center will be the officer in charge. In their absence, a senior professor from the college will assume this role. Students and college authorities are advised to stay updated with further announcements from the Dhaka Board regarding any changes to the exam center assignments due to the recent cancellations.
