Rajshahi University B Unit Admission Test Starts Tomorrow; 76 Applicants for Each Seat

Rajshahi, April 11: The admission test for Rajshahi University’s (RU) 2024-25 undergraduate (honours) first-year program is set to begin tomorrow, Saturday, April 12th, with the examination for ‘B’ Unit. Competition is high, with 76 candidates competing for each available seat in this unit.

University sources confirmed that the ‘B’ Unit test will be conducted in a single shift from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A total of 42,433 applicants are vying for 559 seats within the unit. The seats are allocated across different academic backgrounds: 367 for Commerce students, 166 for Science students, and 26 for Humanities students.

Exam Format and Marking

The admission test will follow a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format. Candidates will have one hour to answer 80 questions, carrying a total of 100 marks (1.25 marks per question). There will be negative marking: 0.20 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer, meaning five wrong answers will result in a deduction of one full mark. The minimum score required to pass the examination is 40 marks. Importantly, marks obtained in previous SSC and HSC exams (GPA) will not be considered in the admission test score.

Unit B Syllabus

The question paper content will differ for Commerce and Non-Commerce group applicants within Unit B:

  • Commerce Group: Bangla (10 marks), English (25 marks), Business Organization & Management (25 marks), Accounting (25 marks), and EITHER Finance, Banking & Insurance OR Production Management & Marketing (15 marks).
  • Non-Commerce Group: Bangla (10 marks), English (25 marks), General Knowledge (including General Math, Economics, Aptitude Test, Bangladesh & International Affairs) (50 marks), and ICT (15 marks).

Exam Schedule for Other Units

Following the Unit B test, the schedule for the other units is:

  • Unit A (Humanities): April 19th
  • Unit C (Science): April 26th

Security and Logistics

University Proctor Professor Mahbubur Rahman stated that the administration is fully prepared to prevent any malpractice and ensure a fair examination process. Security and support measures include the deployment of 70 traffic personnel, 150 police officers, 30 detective police members, and 200 BNCC and Scout volunteers. Mobile toilets will be available for guardians accompanying the students. Proctors will monitor food arrangements, and first aid services, including ambulances, will be on standby.

Admit Card Information

Candidates were previously informed about the need to download new admit cards due to seat rearrangements. While the initial announcement regarding the re-issuance mentioned March 13th, candidates should ensure they have the currently valid admit card downloaded from the university admission website (www.ru.ac.bd/admission) using their SSC/HSC roll numbers, passing year, and board details.

For each unit test, candidates must bring two copies of the admit card: the “University Copy” and the “Candidate Copy.” Both must bear a signature matching the one on the candidate’s HSC registration card. During the exam, the invigilator will sign both copies, retain the “University Copy,” and return the “Candidate Copy” to the student. It is crucial for students to preserve their “Candidate Copy” as it will be required during the admission interview and final enrollment process if selected.

For further details and updates, candidates are advised to visit the official Rajshahi University website: www.ru.ac.bd.
