NU Admission 2025 Results to Be Published After Eid-ul-Azha Holidays

Gazipur, Bangladesh – The National University (NU) successfully conducted its 2024-2025 academic session’s undergraduate (Honours) admission test on Saturday, May 31, 2025. This marks a significant year for NU Admission 2025, as the university reintroduced admission test system after an eight-year hiatus. The results of this test are now scheduled to be published after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, the authorities have confirmed.

A total of 560,595 candidates participated in the examination, which was held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM across 879 centers in 64 district towns nationwide. The National University authorities cited the commencement of the Eid holidays and the extensive number of examinees, exceeding 550,000, as the primary reasons for scheduling the result publication after the festive period.

Breaking down the applicant numbers, 274,718 students appeared from the humanities group, 117,036 from the commerce group, and 168,841 from the science group. The MCQ-based test carried 100 marks. Aspirants needed to score at least 35 marks to pass, with one mark awarded for each correct answer and no penalty for incorrect answers.

The reintroduction of the admission test for NU Admission 2025 aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the selection process for students seeking to enroll in the numerous colleges affiliated with the National University. This system was previously in place until the 2014-15 academic year, after which admissions were based on SSC and HSC GPAs from the 2015-16 session for eight years. The online application process for this admission cycle commenced on January 21, 2025, and concluded on February 28, 2025. The admission test was initially scheduled for May 24 but was later rescheduled to May 31.

National University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. A. S. M. Amanullah, confirmed the decision regarding the result timeline. “The National University admission test results will be published after Eid,” Professor Amanullah stated. “The university is closed from Sunday. Considering the Eid holidays and the sheer number of examinees, which is over five lakhs, we have decided to publish the results after Eid.” During the examination day, he visited several examination centers, including Lalmatia Government Women’s College in Dhaka, expressing satisfaction with the proceedings. “We are pleased to reintroduce the admission test at the National University after almost a decade,” he had remarked then. “We believe this examination will ensure transparency and accountability.”

Students across Bangladesh are now eagerly awaiting the NU Admission 2025 results. The final merit list will be prepared based on a total of 200 marks, comprising the 100 marks from the MCQ admission test, with the remaining 100 marks allocated based on 40% of the SSC GPA (including the fourth subject) and 60% of the HSC GPA.

According to the UGC’s latest annual report, National University has 881 colleges offering undergraduate (Honours) courses, including 264 government and 617 private institutions.
