Govt Polytechnic Admission Test Reintroduced for 2025-2026

Dhaka, Bangladesh – The Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has announced a major change for students aspiring to enroll in government polytechnic institutes. Starting from the 2025-26 academic year, admissions will be based on an entrance examination. The test is likely to be held in July next year.

This new policy marks a shift from the previous system, which relied on students’ academic results (GPA) for admission. The government hopes this change will help select students who are genuinely interested and have the right skills for technical education. The aim is to improve the overall quality of education and reduce the number of students who drop out.

New Admission Test Format

The admission process will now include a 100-mark evaluation. This is divided into two parts:

  • A 70-mark Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) test.
  • 30 marks based on the applicant’s previous academic performance.

The 70-mark MCQ paper will test students on a range of subjects to assess their preparedness for technical studies. The breakdown of marks is as follows:

  • Bangla: 10 marks
  • English: 10 marks
  • Physics & Chemistry: 20 marks
  • Mathematics: 20 marks
  • Aptitude Test: 10 marks

The aptitude test will evaluate a student’s analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and logical thinking.

Aiming for Quality Education

Engineer Md. Anwarul Kabir, the Director of Curriculum at the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, stated that an admission test is essential for enhancing the quality of technical education. “By selecting students through an entrance exam, we can ensure they are well-prepared for the coursework. This will lead to a better learning environment and more skilled graduates,” he said.

He also mentioned that the board is working to make sure all necessary information about the new admission process reaches students on time. This will help them prepare for the examination effectively. The decision to bring back the admission test system, which was discontinued in 2016, is seen as a significant step towards strengthening technical and vocational training in Bangladesh.

Prospective students are advised to start preparing for the new admission test format for the Govt Polytechnic Admission 2025. More details about the application process and the exact date of the examination are expected to be announced by the Technical Education Board in the coming months.
