DHAKA: The much-awaited results of the undergraduate admission test for the 2024-25 academic session at the proposed Dhaka Central University (DCU) have been published. The announcement was made through a circular signed by the University’s Administrator and Principal of Dhaka College, Professor A. K. M. Elias, on Tuesday (August 26).

According to the circular, the university authority reserves the right to correct any inconsistencies or errors found in the published results or to completely cancel the results if necessary.
Exam and Applicant Statistics
This year, a total of 72,000 students applied for 11,150 seats across the university’s three units. The highly competitive admission test for the Arts and Social Science Unit was held on August 22, while the Science and Business Studies Unit exams took place on August 23.
Examination Structure and Passing Criteria
The admission test was a 100-mark MCQ-based exam for all units, with a negative marking of 0.25 for each incorrect answer. A minimum pass mark of 40 was set for all units.
- Arts and Social Science Unit: The test included questions on Bengali, English, and General Knowledge. Candidates were required to score at least 10 marks in either the Bengali or English section to pass.
- Science Unit: The questions were based on the HSC syllabus and covered four subjects, including Physics and Chemistry, with 25 marks allocated to each subject.
- Business Studies Unit: The exam was also a 100-mark MCQ test completed in one hour.
Merit List and Admission Process
The final merit list for admission is based on a total score of 120 marks. This score is calculated by adding 10 marks from the candidate’s SSC results, 10 marks from HSC results, and the 100 marks obtained in the admission test.
The next steps for successful candidates are as follows:
- Subject and College Choice: The online subject and college choice process will begin on September 15.
- Subject Allotment: The final subject allocation will be published on October 20.
- Admission Deadline: All admission formalities must be completed by October 25.
- Classes Begin: The first day of classes for the new academic year is scheduled for October 30.
