The admission test results for the B, C, and D units of Jagannath University (JNU) for the 2024-25 academic year have been announced today, March 23rd. Earlier, the results for the ‘E’ unit were published, but students were frustrated by the delay in the results of other units and were demanding prompt release.
The admission test for the ‘D’ Unit (Faculty of Social Sciences) was held on February 14th, and the test for the ‘B’ Unit (Faculty of Arts and Law) took place on February 15th. Despite assurances from the university administration about a quick release, students had been waiting for over a month.
Similarly, the results for the ‘A’ Unit (Faculty of Science and Life & Earth Science), for which the exam was held on February 22nd, and the ‘C’ Unit (Faculty of Business Studies), with an exam date of February 28th, were also delayed.
The delay in publishing the admission test results had led to increasing frustration among the applicants, who were demanding the prompt release of the results to avoid any further delays in the subsequent admission processes.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, had previously stated that while Friday and Saturday were holidays, a decision regarding the B Unit results would be made on Sunday, and she hoped for its publication on the same day if the results were ready.
Professor Dr. Sanjida Farhana, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, had previously mentioned that her unit had already submitted the results. The central committee would publish the results after obtaining signatures from everyone. Due to the weekend, publication was expected possibly on Sunday.
The Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Professor Dr. Monzur Morshed Bhuiyan, had previously said that the C Unit results were prepared and could have been published earlier. However, the Vice-Chancellor had recently returned from China, and a meeting would be held on Sunday. While they had the autonomy to publish the results, they would do so in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, had previously informed The Daily Campus that a meeting with the unit heads had been scheduled for Sunday. However, he could not guarantee immediate publication on Sunday but expressed hope that the results would be released within the current week.
When asked about the reasons for the delay, Professor Rezaul Karim had cited some technical issues. He also compared the situation with Dhaka University, stating that even a well-managed university like Dhaka University had faced delays in publishing results, and Jagannath University was trying to work faster in comparison.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor had mentioned that this year, exams for each unit were held in shifts, and therefore, results would also be given separately for each shift. The university aimed to publish the results quickly to start classes soon after admission.
The first shift of the D Unit admission test 2024-2025 was held peacefully. For the D Unit, 24,939 students took the admission test for 590 available seats. The D Unit exam included subjects like Bangla, English, Math, and General Knowledge and was held in two shifts.
Students who participated in the Jagannath University admission tests for all units are waiting for the results. The university has published the results on their official website. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website of Jagannath University for updates regarding the admission results. The university aims to begin classes quickly after the admission process is completed.
Students will be able to view their results by logging in to the website jnuadmission.com.
