Comilla University: ‘A’ and ‘C’ Unit Admission Tests Concluded

Comilla University (CU) has successfully conducted the admission tests for its ‘C’ (Business Studies) and ‘A’ (Science and Engineering) units for the 2024-25 academic year Bachelor (Honors) first year. The university, conducting independent admission tests this year after exiting the cluster system, faced a highly competitive environment. Overall, 66,402 applications were submitted for the 1,030 seats spread across the university’s three units (A, B, and C), translating to an average of approximately 64 students vying for each available seat.

The ‘C’ Unit admission test was held on Saturday, April 19th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Later the same day, the ‘A’ Unit test took place from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The tests were conducted across 30 centres located on the university campus and in various educational institutions within Cumilla city.

In preparation for the exams, the university administration held a press conference earlier, where Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Haydar Ali outlined the guidelines and expressed confidence in a smooth examination process. Present at the conference were also Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Masuda Kamal, Treasurer Professor Md. Solaiman, Proctor Professor Md. Abdul Hakim, and Registrar Professor Md. Anwar Hossain. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the university’s readiness and appealed for cooperation to ensure fair exams.

Exam Schedule and Application Details

  • ‘C’ Unit (Business Studies Faculty): Held on April 19th, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
  • ‘A’ Unit (Science and Engineering Faculty): Held on April 19th, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
  • ‘B’ Unit (Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Social Science, and Law): Scheduled for April 25th at 4:00 PM.

All admission tests are taking place in Cumilla.

Unit-wise Application

  • ‘A’ Unit (Science and Engineering): 350 seats, 32,658 applications (Approx. 93 applicants per seat).
  • ‘B’ Unit (Arts & Humanities, Social Science, Law): 440 seats, 23,792 applications (Approx. 54 applicants per seat).
  • ‘C’ Unit (Business Studies): 240 seats, 9,952 applications (Approx. 41 applicants per seat).

Instructions Provided to Examinees

The university enforced strict guidelines for the examinees:

  • Candidates were required to arrive at their designated examination center one hour before the test began.
  • Entry into the examination hall was permitted 30 minutes prior to the start time. No candidate was allowed entry after the scheduled time.
  • Examinees were strictly prohibited from bringing electronic devices (including phones, calculators, watches), bags, books, or any paper into the examination hall.
  • Bags brought to the center had to be left in a designated corner of the hall.
  • Overwriting, erasing, or crossing out on the Roll Number or Set Code sections of the answer sheet would lead to cancellation of the script.
  • Candidates were not permitted to leave the examination room during the test.
  • Identity verification was conducted, requiring candidates to show their face and ears clearly for checking. Female invigilators (university teachers) checked female candidates.
  • University teachers served as invigilators in all examination halls across the 30 centers.

Marking and Application Timeline

The final merit list will be based on a total of 120 marks: 100 marks from the admission test itself and 20 marks based on the candidates’ GPA scores from SSC and HSC examinations (or equivalent).

The online application process for Comilla University commenced on February 2nd and concluded on February 28th. Admit cards were available for download from March 15th to April 10th via the university’s admission website.
