XI Class Admission 2025-26: Major Changes Ahead with New Quota and Fee Hike

Dhaka, Bangladesh – The government is set to introduce significant changes to the XI Class Admission process for the 2025-2026 academic year. A new ‘July Mass Uprising’ quota will be added, and the application fee is expected to increase. The online application process could begin as early as July 24, with classes scheduled to start on September 30.

These proposals are part of a draft policy by the Ministry of Education, which is expected to be finalized in a meeting on Monday, July 21. The meeting will be held virtually with ministry officials and the principals of 35 major colleges in Dhaka.

A key change in this year’s admission policy is the introduction of a quota for students connected to the ‘July Mass Uprising’. This will be in addition to the existing freedom fighter quota. However, discussions are ongoing that this new quota may only be applicable for the upcoming academic year, with the possibility of all quotas being removed from the following year.

Students seeking admission will likely face a higher cost this year. The draft policy proposes to increase the application fee by 70 Taka, bringing the new fee to 220 Taka.

The admission process will continue to be centralized and online, managed with technical support from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Students will be able to apply to a minimum of five and a maximum of ten colleges of their choice. The selection will be based on students’ merit, quota eligibility, and their listed preferences.

The admission process is planned to be completed in three phases.

Proposed XI Class Admission Timeline

  • First Phase Application: July 24 to August 9
  • First Phase Result: August 21 (Night)
  • First Phase Admission Confirmation: By the night of August 25
  • Class Commencement: September 30

Following the first phase, two more application and admission phases will be conducted to fill the remaining seats.

The Senior Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Md. Siddique Zubayer, will preside over the upcoming virtual meeting to give the final approval to these new policies for the XI Class Admission 2025-2026.
