Dhaka: The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education is preparing for a large recruitment drive. They plan to hire many assistant teachers for government primary schools. Many people are waiting for the “Primary Job Circular 2025”.
Around 40,000 Vacancies Expected
Sources suggest there could be around 40,000 job openings. Currently, there are over 8,000 empty assistant teacher posts. This number keeps growing. Also, about 30,000 assistant teachers are waiting for promotion to head teacher roles. These promotions will create more vacancies for assistant teachers. Together, this could mean nearly 40,000 positions need filling.
Recruitment Delayed Due to Legal Issues
However, the new job circular is currently on hold. There are ongoing legal issues about the promotion of the 30,000 assistant teachers. The government is working to solve these problems quickly. A court hearing was expected recently, around late April 2025. Once these issues are resolved, the ministry plans to start the recruitment process for new teachers immediately. An adviser to the ministry confirmed in March 2025 that the recruitment process would begin soon.
Recent Recruitment Completed
Meanwhile, the recruitment process from a previous circular (issued in 2023) recently finished. This involved appointing 6,531 assistant teachers in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions. This process also faced legal challenges over quota rules. The High Court initially cancelled it in February 2025. But the Supreme Court allowed the appointments to proceed in March 2025. These teachers were expected to join their posts by mid-March 2025.
Possible Changes in New Rules
The upcoming recruitment might follow new rules. There are discussions about changing the quota system. Abolishing quotas for women and dependents has been proposed. New rules are being reviewed by the Ministry of Public Administration. Additionally, reforms like creating waiting lists for future vacancies are being considered.
